Dear GreatLIFE Members, Team Members & Support Team,

April couldn’t end fast enough for me and our GreatLIFE Golf operations and facilities! We are excited to get out on the courses! We loved the rain we had yesterday as it was much needed not only for our golf courses but for everyone that is dependent on Mother Nature.

Speaking of Mothers, next Sunday looks like a nice day in the 70’s so if you want to take her out for something special, we have a Mother’s Day Bruch at Willow Run 8am to 1 pm at our Worthington GreatLIFE from 11am to 2pm. Wishing all mothers a wonderful day with family and friends!

Well, we did it again. For the 6th year in a row, we have been voted the Local Best! We were number one in the Health Clubs and Personal Training categories and number 4 in weight loss thanks to our GreatLIFE Teams and Leaders. Our focus on being the friendliness and cleanest sets us apart from competition. Our mission to “Enrich the lives of families and individuals through golf, fitness and healthy lifestyles” is the foundation in all that we do.

Recently I had an occasion where I was asked to speak about what characteristics, values and experiences that have helped me, our businesses and charitable efforts to become successful. To me, the most important characteristic is a POSITIVE ATTITUDE – an attitude of gratitude in all parts of your life especially your family, friends and work. I firmly believe that you need to focus on all the blessings in your life. You need to write them down, make copies of them, update and review them frequently. There will be challenging times when you will need them to help you get though circumstances and keep you strong.

When looking for people to join your team, hire for attitude and values, train for skill. You need to have a personal mission statement that should guide you on all decisions based upon values, beliefs and priorities. It should define and develop your character and all your relationships. If married, together you should develop a marriage mission statement. If you have a family, together develop a family mission statement on how you will conduct your relationships especially in difficult times and to build stronger relationships.

Become a servant leader. Become successful by helping other succeed. Look for the good in everyone, try catching people doing things right and recognize them for it. Be a mentor, a teacher, a role model – both in words and actions. Introduce people with a sincere compliment, it costs nothing and probably makes their day as well as builds stronger relationships. Lead by example, be humble and give credit to others when things go right. Remember, all long-term success is based on relationships. People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

Develop a one year, three year and five year plan for your family, career and future. Be specific, adjust as you go, and hold yourself accountable. Share and review these with those closest to you, ask for input and learn as you grow. The day you stop learning, you put a lid on how you and your organization can grow.

Both back when we had our Burger King Restaurants and now with GreatLIFE, we have had basically one rule: THINK BEFORE YOU ACT, DO WHAT IS RIGHT AND TAKE CARE OF ONE ANOTHER. My old friend Bishop Carlson said, “God won’t be outdone in generosity”. I have changed it a little bit to “God won’t be outdone in generosity and kindness”. I have found when I have done something good for someone else, I get more out of it than the recipient. Plus, it makes me and everyone around me better! Lastly, my definition of success “ SUCCESS – When the ones closest to you, love and respect you the most”.

Thanks for being a GreatLIFE Member, enjoy the Spring and have an attitude of gratitude.
