Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy
Barefoot massage has been practiced for eons by Buddhist monks and is a part of many eastern cultures.
A westernized version of barefoot massage, Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy was developed in the United States in 1999 and provides many of the benefits of Swedish massage. Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy gets its name from the Japanese words “ashi” (foot) and “atsu” (pressure), Ashiatsu massage is an ancient type of bodywork that is done solely with the massage therapist’s feet.
GreatLIFE’s Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy blends elements of the original method with newer, more Western techniques. The massage is performed with the feet while the client lies on a massage table unclothed as they would for a typical massage. The massage therapist either stands on the table and holds onto parallel bars that hang from the ceiling or sits on a stool next to the table.
