Get kids in gear for summer with these ways to stay active
May 25, 2022
Grab your calendar, and get ready to start scheduling ways your kids will have fun and stay fit this summer.
GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness offers activities for all ages and interests – so plan ahead and make sure you’re taking full advantage.
Here are six ways to consider getting the kids out of the house and into an activity soon.
May 26: ZooMobile
School is out and are they stir-crazy already? Bring the kids to GreatLIFE Performance Center between 9:30 to 11 a.m. to get up close with animals on-site from the Great Plains Zoo.
Pro tip: Take them to child care before or after – they’ll love the activities, and you can fit in a workout.

Sports performance camps
If you have an athlete in the family, these are for you. Sports performance camps last four weeks. There are two sessions: June 6-July 1 and July 11-Aug. 5.
In Sport Performance Camp, young athletes work on group training, including speed, agility, reaction time, jumping and landing. They’ll improve overall strength, exercise form and movement. These camps are open to athletes of all ages and sports.
In Elite Sport Performance, the group training is for athletes looking for a more individualized approach toward mastering techniques and abilities to play in their sports. It’s a smaller group allowing for more one-one-one attention and is open to sixth through 12th grade athletes.

There are many opportunities for kids to connect with golf at GreatLIFE, but Lil’ Linksters is a great place to start. This development program starts with all the fundamentals needed for a lifetime of fun.
The next session runs on Saturdays from June 4-25 and the others are July 9-30 and Aug. 6-27.
Kids age 5 to 8 are 10 to 11 a.m. and kids 9 to 12 are 11 a.m. to noon.
Lessons are held at Willow Run Golf Course. For information and to register, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
By popular demand, kids age 11 to 13 now can take a youth certification class at GreatLIFE to use cardio equipment, weight machines and attend group fitness classes on their own at Woodlake, Harrisburg, 41st and Sertoma, and the Performance Center.
Parents must still be at the facility with those younger than 13. If you’re looking for a more structured fitness option for kids, consider personal training. Youth certification is offered the first day of the month at Performance Center and the third Saturday of the month at Woodlake. Spots are limited, so call the location to reserve your place or email email@example.com if you need help with certification.
You literally could fill every day of summer vacation with an activity that takes advantage of a GreatLIFE member benefit.
