GreatLIFE, GNC partner in multiple new ways

GNC’s customers and employees both are now going to save as they focus on wellness – but that’s just part of the story.
Thanks to a new partnership with GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness, the hope is forming “a major relationship that will really help changes people’s lives as much as possible,” said Casey Nickell, who marks seven years next month as the GNC franchise operator for Sioux Falls and Brookings.
“We both have extremely similar goals. We want to do things with honesty and integrity and for the right reasons. This will strengthen both of us to help people each and every day.”
GreatLIFE members now will receive 10 percent off each time they shop at GNC, except when other promotions on items are in place.
“So whenever a GreatLIFE member comes in, they are guaranteed to get a discount of some kind on top of our already competitive pricing,” Nickell said.
GNC has locations at Dawley Farm Village and The Empire Mall.
“It’s really a natural fit for us, and having known Casey a long time, we’re very comfortable with the awesome service he and his team will provide to members,” said Randall Hill, GreatLIFE vice president of fitness.
“They’re a knowledgeable team that’s going to be able to help you no matter what your goal is. These products aren’t just for people looking to add muscle or lose weight. They’re for people who want to feel better taking care of their joints or because they have more energy. So they will talk to you about your goals and help you find the right products for you.”
GNC also will hold demonstration days or pop-up shops within GreatLIFE fitness centers, and there’s already a retail area in place at Woodlake Athletic Club.
“There’s a ton of variety in their products, and it can be overwhelming,” Hill said. “That’s where Casey and their team come in because they have a mission to help you figure out what you need so you’re a lifelong customer. It’s not a transactional approach.”
Customers at GNC often come in with questions about finding a fitness center too, Nickell said.
“We get asked that all the time, and we’ll ask people where they work out already because that gives us a better idea of what direction to go with helping them,” he said. “We often recommend GreatLIFE because we know they’re going to treat them right.”
Nickell knows that firsthand. He has been a GreatLIFE member for seven years and works out at multiple locations.
“If I’m around town running errands, there’s always somewhere close I can go,” he said. “And with a daughter and a baby on the way, the child care has been a lifesaver. I’ve also picked up golf, and the member benefits are great because they give you an extra feeling of confidence to support those businesses more frequently.”
His team at GNC also will be receiving discounted GreatLIFE memberships through their new corporate partnership.
“Most of our staff goes to GreatLIFE anyway, so this will be a really nice benefit for them,” Nickell said. “We just see this as a major partnership in health for us.”
