Spruce Glen, Inc. has signed a letter of Intent with GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness Club to manage and operate Rocky Run Golf Course. Spruce Glen is a group of local investors who own and develop land surrounding Rocky Run and are committed to maintaining this valuable community asset. They purchased the golf course in December of 2013.
GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness Club was also established in 2013, bringing together golf, fitness and healthy lifestyles to enrich the lives of families. It provides unlimited access to all its facilities and is committed to offering the best in value, convenience and hospitality throughout the region.
In 2014, Rocky Run functioned as a GreatLIFE Affiliate course, which allowed GreatLIFE members to access Rocky Run on a restricted basis. Rocky Run will now join Willow Run, Bakker Crossing, Central Valley and Worthington Country Club as a fully managed and operated GreatLIFE facility. Families and individuals who were Rocky Run members in 2014 will be able to join GreatLIFE without paying the $50 initiation fee and will now have access to play all four courses along with eight affiliate courses. Rocky Run members who own private carts will still be able to pay a trail fee and store their carts at the course for a fee of $400 per year. They will also have the option to upgrade to unlimited cart usage at all four courses.
Spruce Glen fully embraces the mission of GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness Club, “to enrich the lives of families and individuals through golf and fitness.” Through this partnership, Rocky Run will now provide a better golf experience and more resources to its members. In addition to golf, GreatLIFE members also have access to multiple fitness centers including GreatLIFE Woodlake Athletic Club and GreatLIFE EmBe Aquatics and Fitness Downtown. GreatLIFE is currently pursuing options for a fitness facility in Dell Rapids.
GreatLIFE’s intention is to improve the golf and hospitality experience at Rocky Run. Trent Geddes will continue as the Golf and Facilities Manager. Trent has been a valuable and dedicated employee of Rocky Run for more than 15 years. Last year, Norby’s managed and operated the clubhouse and all food and beverage services at Rocky Run. Deb Brobjorg, Norby’s owner, is planning to continue that relationship with GreatLIFE. “Norby’s was a great addition to Rocky Run. They created a friendly and welcoming atmosphere in the clubhouse, which is exactly what GreatLIFE members expect at all of our facilities,” said Donn Hill, general manager of GreatLIFE.
