GreatLIFE Community,

We are officially half way through 2023! As we continue to see record number of  Members and visitors coming through GreatLIFE facilities, we are doubling down on our people. I believe we have the best Team Members and am excited to continue to work on ways for each of our Team Members to become the best version of themselves that they can be. In July, we are starting the next group of Team Members through our second phase of our Purpose Driven Leader program. This will be our 6th class to go through phase two where they will be learning more ways to grow and develop effective teams based on each person’s strengths. I believe this will continue to enhance your experience and interactions at each one of our facilities.

July has become a busy month for our Team getting involved in the community as well. On Monday, July 24th, we will be hosting our annual golf tournament to raise money for over 20 local non-profits. The 2023 Challenge for Change tournament is slated to be the largest one to date. With a morning and an afternoon shotgun, we are thrilled to be able to open up the door for these non-profits to interact with the players and create more awareness of who they are and how they can get involved. I’m not sure about you, but I can lose track of time and before I know it, another year has come and gone. I love setting goals and behaviors that will lead to continual growth. Typically, I do really well with setting goals in December, but I don’t do a great job at taking intentional time to reflect to make sure they are still relevant. This month’s book was a great reminder of how important intentional reflection is a vital step to learning. I would encourage you to take time to get away and revisit your 2023 goals and see how you are doing. Take time to celebrate your wins, identify what you should change and the daily steps you are going to take to get there.

Have a great July!

This month’s book was called: 15 INVALUABLE LAWS OF GROWTH by John Maxwell

Here were 3 of my big takeways from it:

  1. Make sure I have a plan for personal growth- By coming up with a specific plan of personal development, I can ensure I am making steps to becoming the best version of myself that I can be every day.
  2. Experience with reflection is key to learning- I struggle taking time to reflect because I enjoy being busy. I have learned that I am able to stay consistent with this if I schedule a weekly meeting with myself to reflect on the week and prepare for my week ahead.
  3. Growth only comes when we leave our comfort zone- This concept is something that is talked about in fitness but it’s so relevant to everything in life. I was challenged to find a way to become uncomfortable each week so, although I don’t love it, it’s been fun to stretch myself.

I would love to hear what a few of your takeaways were from 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. Feel free to send them to me, along with any other comments or suggestions you may have.

Positive thought: “People don’t decide their futures, they decide their daily behaviors that lead to their future.” My 8-year-old daughter flipped this on me a few weeks ago when she asked to listen to a book in the car. I told her we were going to be there in 2 minutes. She quickly said “if we listen for 2 minutes every day, we will eventually listen to an entire book.” She is SPOT ON! What are those small, seemingly insignificant things you can do daily that will lead to a future you can be proud of?
