GreatLIFE Cares has recently partnered with Character Matters to equip coaches with the tools to reward the character of athletes, teams, and schools.

We believe that one coach of character can transform an athlete; one athlete of character can change a team; one team of character can impact a school; one school of character can improve a community.

Not every student has the opportunity to discover what they’re capable of. PLAYEverything introduces youth to sports, movement, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles while developing strong character values that extend far beyond the playing field. Through teamwork, discipline, perseverance, and confidence, children begin building habits that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

TeamMates is a strengths-based mentoring program that matches students with a caring adult mentor based on shared interests or experiences. Mentors meet once a week at schools during the school year, in the Sioux Falls School District. Our mentors help students reach their full potential. 

Research confirms the benefits of mentoring for young people. Students who have a Mentor are more likely to aspire to attend and enroll in college, participate in sports and extracurricular activities, take on leadership roles, and regulary volunteer in their communities.

Thanks to the generous support of the GreatLIFE Cares Foundation, McGovern Middle School’s Empowered program is transforming how our students think about values, character, and money. Through Empowered, students earn a school-wide currency tied directly to positive behavior and values. Youth Entrepreneurs turns everyday choices into a real, tangible economy. Beyond that, your funding has given our students something rare: the chance to actually launch their own businesses, using lessons and startup capital that make entrepreneurship a hands-on reality instead of just a classroom concept. Because of your investment, our students aren’t just learning about financial literacy and entrepreneurship, they’re living it! Students are building confidence and life skills that will serve them long after they leave our halls.
